Khon mask on sale Khon mask on sale
For centuries Khon meant the high art of Thai classical dance. Almost all the performers wear a mask identifying their specific role. As most of performers have to wear mask, they cannot speak or sing so the narrator speaks and sings for them instead.

The most popular story for using Khon is 'The Ramakien' .This is an epic story that tells about the war between Phra Rama (the reincarnation of Vishnu) and Tosankanth the 10-faced and 20-handed demon. Tosankanth abducts Sita, Phra Rama's wife so Phra Rama and Phra Lakshman, his younger brother go in pursuit of him. With the service of two allies - Sukrip, King of Khitkhin, and Thao Mahajompu, the great king of Jombu - and their major warrior, Hanuman, their search for Tosankanth and Sida comes to a final conquest and battle.

Khon dance has declined in popularity in Thailand today and so, the Khon mask has changed its role to become an attractive, and sought after, souvenir. It's these delightful and quite compelling Khon masks that we present to you on the following pages.
